The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is committed to providing educational opportunities to students from all backgrounds, regardless of financial means. We encourage our students to seek additional scholarships to finance their education through community organizations and foundations or access the opportunities listed below. Assistance League of San Antonio Scholarship
In the spring of 2024, Assistance League of San Antonio and its Bexar Hugs auxiliary will present $3000 scholarships to students at a college or university in Bexar County. The intent of these scholarships is to provide financial assistance to help students reach their educational goals. The award may be used for tuition, fees, and books and will be paid directly to the college or university each student attends. To be eligible for a scholarship, the applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 hours or more), entering his/her junior or senior year at a four-year college or university in Bexar County, Texas. If awarded this scholarship as a junior, you may again apply for it in advance of your senior year as well.

Rotary Club of San Antonio Youth Education Foundation Scholarship
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, a full-time resident of South Texas, classified as an undergraduate/graduate student during the 2023-2024 academic year, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and will be enrolled full-time during the 2024-2025 academic year.
Deadline: March 29, 2024
British American Foundation of Texas
Applicants must be a resident of Texas or the United Kingdom; enrolled in full-time education with the Texas or UK education system; demonstrate financial need; have a good GPA; be able to attend an awards dinner in Houston in April 2024.

The STARS Scholarship is open to full-time students seeking a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and whose permanent address is in one of the STARS scholarship counties. Must have earned at least 12 undergraduate credit hours at a U.S. accredited college or university before applying for the scholarship (including dual credit or AP credits). Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher on a 4.0 scale. See application for county and requirement details.

Herbert Lehman Education Fund Scholarship
Open to U.S. citizens with demonstrated financial need, a combined family income of $70,000 or less, a record of academic achievement, demonstrated commitment to public service and are either a graduating high school senior, a freshman at an accredited four-year college, or a student transferring into an accredited four-year college. Students beginning as a junior are not eligible. (See application for full details).

TXCPA San Antonio Scholarship (2024-2025)
Open to current TXCPA Student Members. Must be a junior/senior accounting major/graduate student in accounting for academic year 2024 - 2025, planning to become a Certified Public Accountant. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. See link for full details.

2024-2025 Endowed Scholarship Application
Through our Endowed Scholarship program, UIW is able to offer students of high academic and/or artistic ability a wide variety of scholarship opportunities. These endowments are made possible by the generosity and commitment of UIW’s alumni and friends. Completing this application will consider you for multiple endowed scholarship funds. Eligibility criteria: Returning/Transfer students who have earned a minimum 3.6 cumulative grade point average; or entering freshmen meeting the Academic Scholarship criteria established by the Office of Admissions.

Open to junior or senior accounting majors going on to graduate school in San Antonio.

Women in Public Finance Texas Chapter Scholarship
Must be a female high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student enrolled at a Texas college, and considering a career in public finance.

United Way Child Care Scholarship
Parents selected for a United Way Child Care Scholarship must meet the following criteria: Pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree for the first time; enrolled a minimum of 12 hours if not also working (minimum of 6 hours per semester if working a minimum of 19 hours per week); committed to maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.5; have demonstrated financial need; not enrolled in any subsidized child care program; and is a citizen or legal resident of the United States and a resident of Bexar County.

New Braunfels MLK Association (Non-Traditional Scholarship)
Applicants must reside within the city limits of New Braunfels or Comal County, Texas; be 25 years or older in age at time of application; intend to be a full-time or part-time student enrolled in a school in order to acquire the skills to become more financially independent; and be accepted to an accredited school or college and provide supporting documentation from the institution.

HACU: Diversity in Health Care Scholarship
Applicants must be currently enrolled at an HACU-member institution. Open to students pursuing degrees (associate, bachelor, master, doctorate) that will lead to careers as Clinical Professionals that may include Physician, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Nurse, Pharmacist, Dentist, Social Worker, Addiction Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, or related clinical professions. Open to Undergraduate (classified as a sophomore or junior) and Graduate students. At the time of application, students must have at least (2) two years of study remaining before their anticipated degree completion date. Must be enrolled full-time. Minimum GPA of a 3.0 or higher. Identifies as Hispanic/ Latino, Black/African American, Native American/ Alaska Native or Asian or is focused on the health of these communities or other underrepresented racial/ethnic groups.

Pat and Dorothy (Lehr) Legan Scholarship
Offered to provide financial support to students who demonstrate financial need and have a commitment to learning in order to make a worthy contribution to society.

HACU: Cafe Bustelo El Cafe Del Futuro Scholarship
Open to ALL majors. Must be attending a 4-year HACU Member institution. Open to Undergraduate and Graduate students. Must be enrolled Full-time. Must be of Hispanic or Latinx descent (Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture/origin).

Latinas In Progress Scholarship Program – Zoom Sessions
Designed to support college-bound women of Hispanic/Latino heritage in attaining higher education through participation in mentoring, leadership, college readiness and providing college scholarship opportunities. Must sign up for free Zoom session in order to receive scholarship application.

2023 - 2024 Fifth-Year Accounting Scholarship
Open to Texas residents who demonstrate financial need determined by the FAFSA and need 30 or fewer hours to complete the 150 semester hours education requirement to take the CPA examination in Texas. Must also file an Application of Intent to take the CPA exam with the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.
Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship (PDF)
Open to Pell-eligible students whose parent or guardian died in the line of duty while performing as a public safety officer. Students must have also been less than 24 years of age or enrolled at an institution of higher education at the time of their parent’s or guardian’s death.
Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) Scholarships
Open to students who have graduated from high school, are currently enrolled at an HACU-member institution in the U.S. or Puerto Rico, have completed their first semester of college at the HACU-member institution, intend to enroll at an HACU-member institution in the spring of 2024 or fall of 2024 (varies by scholarship), and demonstrate financial need (if required by the scholarship sponsor). Deadlines vary by scholarship.
Merit scholarships are awarded by the Office of Admissions to full-time Broadway campus undergraduate students. Find more information on UIW Merit Scholarships.

Students from Latin America or the Caribbean can find a listing of scholarships, grants, fellowships and loans, collected by the Rowe Fund program of the Organization of American States (OAS). For over 70 years, the Rowe Fund has granted interest-free student loans for university studies in the U.S. to supplement other sources of financing.
Through the UIW Endowed Scholarship Program, UIW is able to offer a wide variety of scholarship opportunities to students of high academic and/or artistic ability. These endowments are made possible by the generosity and commitment of UIW's alumni and friends. The Endowed Scholarship application is available each year from January and the deadline is in April.
Fashion Management Scholarship: The Juren Sullivan Center for Fashion Management awards several scholarships in the spring. The scholarships are announced at the Red Dress Fashion Show. Performing and Fine Arts Scholarships: Students interested in performing and fine arts scholarships should contact the designated department for information on auditions and performance dates.

There are several scholarship programs that provide health professional students with financial support in exchange for a commitment to serve medically underserved areas. Most Health Resource and Service Administration scholarships have service requirements. If the service requirements are not met, the scholarship funds will revert to a loan(s). Be sure to review the requirements of a scholarship before you apply.
- Nurse Corps Scholarship Program
The Nurse Corps Scholarship Program provides nursing students with financial support in exchange for a commitment to serve at least two years in a qualifying Nurse Corps site. As a condition of acceptance into this program, you must work at a Critical Shortage Facility upon graduation. Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents enrolled in a nursing degree program. - National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program
The National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program pays tuition, fees and other educational costs and provides a stipend in exchange for a commitment to work for two years at an approved NHSC site. To qualify, you must work in one of these health disciplines:- Physician
- Dentist
- Nurse Practitioner
- Nurse Midwife
- Physician Assistant
- Native Hawaiian Health Scholarship Program (NHHSP)
The NHHSP provides scholarships to Native Hawaiians pursuing careers in primary and behavioral health disciplines. The program pays tuition, provides a monthly stipend and covers related school costs. Students must serve in a medically underserved area within the state of Hawaii immediately after graduation/licensure for every year of funding that the student receives with a minimum of two years and a maximum of four years.
UIW competes in the NCAA Division I Southland Conference. Scholarships are available and awarded by the coaches of each sport. For information on athletic scholarships, contact the Athletics Office at (210) 829-2722 or visit the Athletics homepage.
Scholarship Search Engines: Students are encouraged to apply for external scholarships in addition to any UIW awards they receive. There are free search engines that students can use to find more opportunities.
ROTC Scholarships: Students interested in ROTC scholarships should visit the ROTC website for more information on the program, scholarships and requirements.
Military Discounts: Qualified military students and dependents may be eligible for tuition discounts. For more information, contact the UIW Business Office.
Veterans Education Benefits: The UIW Military and Veteran Center can assist students using educational benefits under the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Educational Assistance Programs in the pursuit of their educational goals. Visit the Military and Veteran Center's website for assistance and to learn about additional veteran resources.
